Centenarians Getting Older

In an article from USA Today, Centenarians increase in age and numbers, people in their 100’s are living longer. “The U.S. Census Bureau projects that 114,000 Americans will be centenarians in 2010, a number expected to swell to 241,000 by 2020,” it says. It goes on to give some reasons for the extended longevity, like antibiotics and statin drugs, and says that our longevity may continue to increase even though studies show people “that Americans, on average, would like to live to be 87.” Next time you work on that retirement planning calculator, you might want to factor in a few more years that you might have originally planned.
