Annuities Answers
Annuities are daunting to me. Luckily Walter Updegrave has a nice article on them at CNN/Money, The annuity solution. His basic advice is that you should probably split your retirement savings between buying an annuity and just simply keeping a nest egg. That the simple version of the answer, but when you scratch below the surface it get much trickier.
Deciding the percentage that’s right for you depends on a variety of factors: how much you’ve saved, how much income you want in retirement, how long you think you’re likely to live, how concerned you are about running short and how much money you’ll need on hand for unexpected expenses and such.
He goes into quite a bit of depth for a short article, you might want to take some notes. Read the article here.
