How To Use This Site
Reading
Talking Retirement is a Weblog, or blog. For practical purposes, this means that the site is frequently updated, and offers original content as well as summaries of—and links to—content on other sites. Clicking a link within a post will most often take you to another site. Use the “Back” button in your Web browser to return to Talking Retirement.
New stories appear at the top of the page in the center column. Older stories are archived in sections (Money, Leisure, etc.) that can be accessed from links below the word "Categories" in the right-hand column.
Posting Comments
Under each story, there is a link called "Talk Back" which you can click to post your thoughts on a story. The number before the word "Comments" indicates how many comments already have been posted on that topic. We encourage you to comment on the entries because that's what Talking Retirement is about.
What's a "Perma link?"
A perma link, shorthand for permanent link, is a link to one particular entry. If you were going to send an entry to a friend, for example, it would be better for you to send the perma link rather than the address to the Talking Retirement homepage. That way, the story you're referencing won't be pushed to the bottom of the page because of newer entries.
What does "Filed under:" at the bottom of each entry mean?
We cover a lot of topics at Talking Retirement. To make it easier to find entries people are searching for, each entry is filed under a category area. For example, a news story about changes to Social Security may get tagged under both news and Social Security.
How do these categories help me?
You can use the Categories menu on the right hand side of the page to see entries that fall under that category and ignore the others. If you click Money, only entries that have been assigned to the category Money will be displayed.
